State Rep. Joyce Mason

IL State Representative, Board of Directors for A Safe Place / Lake County Crisis Center, Vice President of the Woodland District 50 Board of Education

Joyce Mason and her family are life-long residents of Illinois. They have lived in Gurnee for the past twenty years and have been actively involved in the community for decades. Joyce has been a small business owner, a community leader, and a teacher in the district.  

Sworn-in as State Representative on January 9, 2019, Joyce serves as a full-time state legislator. She is committed to being an active voice in Springfield for all residents of the 61st district. She currently serves on seven legislative committees including: 

•    Economic Opportunity & Equity
•    Elementary & Secondary Education: Curriculum and Policies
•    Higher Education: Appropriations
•    Human Services
•    Energy & Environment
•    Agriculture & Conservation
•    Museums & Cultural Affairs

Joyce received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. She has a long career as a human resources professional and holds her SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) and SHRM-SCP (Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified HR Professional) certifications.  

Joyce served as Vice President of the Woodland District 50 Board of Education for two years.  Her community activities including volunteering for the American Cancer Society, Woodland School District, and Gurnee Park District. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of A Safe Place-Lake County Crisis Center and El Puente Latino. 

Joyce is thoughtful and considerate of all perspectives. She believes that every person in the district deserves respect and representation. She encourages respectful dialogue, feedback and ideas from all members of the community Serving her constituents is a top priority for Joyce and she works hard to make herself and her team easily accessible to everyone.
