91¿´Æ¬Íø's mathematics program offers students a solid and comprehensive foundation in both theoretical and applied mathematics, preparing students to pursue graduate studies or a wide array of career paths related to mathematics.

We provide our students with a robust education in mathematics and statistics. Our program focuses on computational mathematics with an emphasis on applications relevant to data science and algorithms.

Our mathematics majors graduate with the ability to use mathematics as a tool to describe and solve real-world problems in a wide variety of areas and applications, such as medicine, finance, and the sciences. This is in addition to training our students in the fundamental rules of logic and proof techniques as well as the basic tenets of calculus, linear algebra, abstract algebra, and real analysis.

Mathematics and the liberal arts

Mathematics is a naturally collaborative discipline, which offers students the opportunity to merge it with other interests in the natural sciences, social sciences, or the humanities. 91¿´Æ¬Íø leverages the best of the liberal arts approach to support students with coursework and career paths tailored to their unique interests.

Our flexible academic structure allows 91¿´Æ¬Íø students to pursue up to two majors and one minor, or one major and two minors, within four years. This adaptability enables students to explore diverse interests and craft interdisciplinary focuses that align with their aspirations.

The Richter Scholar Summer Research Program provides students with the opportunity to conduct independent, individual research with 91¿´Æ¬Íø faculty early in their academic careers. James Rocco Quantitative Research Fellowship

The James Rocco Quantitative Research Fellowships offer up to $5,000 for innovative, student-designed quantitative research projects to be carried out during the summer or the academic year. Provided the proposed topic is quantitatively based, the only limits on the field of study are student ingenuity and creativity. Learn more.
