Marvin Lindsey

CEO of Community Behavioral Healthcare Association of Illinois (CBHA), Mentor for the "We Are Men" program at the University of Illinois, Member of the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) at the American Society of Association Executives

Marvin is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Illinois Chicago Jane Addams College of Social Work. He is the liaison and mentor/coach for the College’s We Are Men Program (WAM), a program that recruits and supports Black/African American male MSW graduate students.

In June 2022, Marvin retired as the CEO of the Community Behavioral Healthcare Association of Illinois (CBHA), the largest statewide behavioral health association in Illinois. He provided leadership, guidance, and advocacy for member agencies in the design and building of an effective community behavioral health system throughout Illinois. Marvin also retired from his position as the Executive Director of a limited liability company of behavioral health providers, ProviderCo, created to act as preferred providers for behavioral health services to Medicaid beneficiaries for third-party payors across the State of Illinois.

Marvin has served on the Illinois Medicaid Advisory Committee, the Illinois Behavioral Health Workforce Taskforce, the Illinois Advisory Council on Substance Use, the Governor’s Adult Use Cannabis Health Advisory Committee and the Illinois Community Advisory Council on Homelessness.

Prior to joining CBHA, Marvin worked as an adult and adolescent behavioral health clinician and as a senior research assistant with Harvard University and research assistant with TASC and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Marvin is an active member of the Community Advisory Committee of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s (UIC) Urban Health Program; and also serves as the co-chair of the UIC Jane Addams College of Social Work’s Dean Advisory Committee.

Marvin attended Loyola Academy, received his bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and his master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Jane Addams College of Social Work. He is a personal and professional coach, receiving his training from the Newfield Network, an international coaching program.

Marvin is a graduate and scholar of the American Society of Association Executive’s Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP).

Marvin has received numerous awards for community service and leadership and was the 2019 commencement speaker at the UIC Jane Addams College of Social Work graduation ceremony.

Marvin is the husband of Beverly Lindsey and father to Stephan aka DJ StephFloss.
