Research Assistants

The HUMAN Grant supports undergraduate students conducting research across various fields. Their projects include investigating deepfakes, developing AI chatbots that promote the humanities, collaborating with the Chicago History Museum and other community partners.

Research Assistants

Zachary Crawford is a Data Science major with a focus in Computer Science and a minor in Digital Media. He enjoys combining technical innovation with creative problem-solving, exploring areas like AI, deepfakes, and digital storytelling. A lover of music, logic puzzles, and wordplay, he enjoys connecting data, creativity, and the occasional pun to craft meaningful projects. 


Estelle Ghinea is a first-year student at 91¿´Æ¬Íø. She is a history major with a legal studies minor and is passionate about writing, art, and language learning. She hopes to attend law school after Lake Forest.  


René Aguilar Monge is a member of the Class of 2027, majoring in Studio Art and French. Expanding the boundaries and vision of art has always been his goal, and exploring the intersection of art and artificial intelligence is a field rich with opportunities for discovery and innovation. 


Andiswa Mmema, from the Kingdom of Eswatini is a Junior at 91¿´Æ¬Íø (Class of 2026) and is pursuing a double major in Economics (Finance Track) and Data Science (Computer Science Concentration). Passionate about financial economics, data analytics, and investment banking, Andiswa is a HUMAN Grant Research Assistant exploring the intersection of AI and education. She has also served as Treasurer of the United Black Association (UBA) and Secretary of UMOJA, and participated as an Alto 2 in the Concert Choir, demonstrating a strong commitment to leadership and community involvement. 


Kyle Moyo, a sophomore from Harare, Zimbabwe, is interested in pursuing an Information Science Major. He believes in blending the philosophical with the practical—asking critical questions about the Information Age and its assumptions while recognizing the real value of its tools. His academic pursuits focus on human-centered aspects of technology, including information architecture and humanistic data. Outside of his studies, Kyle enjoys reading, fiction writing and composing music.  


Gloria Nakafu is an Art History major with a minor in French. Interested in the connections between technology and an intersectional view of the humanities, she has participated in the HUMAN book club, data conversion, and other admin needs. Gloria also enjoys reading, books, and general literary culture, as well as the occasional sewing project. 


Jenna Rose Thomas is from Kerala, India and Jamaica. She is a Sophomore double major in Philosophy and Psychology who is deeply interested in research, particularly in the intersection of ethics, the social mind and responsible AI. 


Isis Correa Tume is a sophomore student from Peru majoring in Economics and Computer Science with a minor in International Relations. Their main area of interest is machine learning and training of AI models. 


Manserrat Ramazonova is a sophomore at 91¿´Æ¬Íø, majoring in Data Science and Finance. As a member of the Girls Who Code club, she is passionate about using technology to solve real-world problems. Mans’s interests include web development, data analysis, and financial modeling.
